Aberration Express
A downloadable game for Windows
ABERRATION EXPRESS
You are applying for a job as an aberration hunter, and the test is carried out through simulated aberrations on an infinite train. You have to carefully observe each part of the train, and then answer a quiz at the end of the coach. Be careful as you can't return once you leave the coach, pay attention and take notes.
Inspired by 'The Exit 8' and 'I'm on Observation Duty', I made this game using Unreal Engine 5 and C++, and all the assets (3D, programming, interface and sounds!!) were made by me, during the game jam period.
KNOWN ISSUES
- In Build 15, there was a mistake in reducing the coaches to 3 instead of the intended 10. Although it remains the latest and best playable version, I wanted to clarify this discrepancy.
- In Build 14, you'll find the expected 10 coaches, but there's a bug at the end of the run that freezes the player's view. The workaround is to simply open and close the pause menu. Thanks for your understanding.
- Both versions will be left available as "shorter" and "longer" versions. If you have less time to play, you might prefer to play the shorter version, and vice versa. There's no difference in gameplay despite this one bug fix.
- (Critical) Due to the rush of the game jam and my beginner level with Unreal Engine, I couldn't pay enough attention to performance issues, leading to a poorly optimised game. I apologize if you happen to experience low frame rates or freezes.
If you happen to find a bug, please describe it to me in detail and give me the number in the lower left corner of the monitor screen, it is going to be something like "OS-00000", this number will help me reproduce the bug and investigate further.
Feel free to leave feedback, it helps me a lot.

By the way, were you not also, by any chance, inspired by previews of "Shinkansen 0" while making this game? Looking back at it, I find there to be quite some similarities in how your train coach and their coach design look
No, I wasn’t. I don’t know which previews you are referring to, as I don’t follow Chilla’s Art and wasn’t aware of them before Shinkansen 0’s release on Steam.
About 15 fps on GTX 950 with terrible input lag. Work-of-art level of performance issues, it's like barely playable at all
I apologize for the poor performance you have experienced. I am well aware of the issue, but I can’t assure you that I can fix it anytime soon. 😞
In any case, I have updated the description to notify future players of this issue.
Thanks for the feedback!
Hopefully that does not scare off too much people.
Just for the record, I was able to make the playing experience much better by tweaking everything I could in Nvidia control panel for performance and input lag reduce and it kinda helped. So it is playable if one really wanted to play it (like I did)
